<b><i>In the Art Studio </i></b>is saying goodbye for now... </h2>
<h2 class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hung up my apron today. I am retired and must cease this blog with my school district. I think I will continue at some point because I love to put these mini lessons together and new ideas are always presenting themselves to me. I think the blog will look different though. I am not sure what will unfold. I will look at life and see what might be worthy of sharing. </h2>
<h2 class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the meantime, I will be presenting TAB inspired professional development and will continue to sell my Artifact Assessment Books for grades 1-5. I appreciate you and wish you the very best...you do important work. If you need to get in touch with me, contact me at:</h2>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
What does it mean if someone tells you that you have a "sense of humor"? </h2>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eixIO0kM5A4/VxBqrERL8cI/AAAAAAAAFkw/QvV8_bz0TZQBy6PUBPTzbx5iRoXYbCa7gCLcB/s1600/news-graphics-2008-_659105a-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eixIO0kM5A4/VxBqrERL8cI/AAAAAAAAFkw/QvV8_bz0TZQBy6PUBPTzbx5iRoXYbCa7gCLcB/s640/news-graphics-2008-_659105a-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
</h2>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
Where do ideas for cartoons come from? </h2>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Is there something in your life that is funny? </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Did someone say something to you that was funny?</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
What would a funny situation be? </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
If something is funny to you, is it funny to someone else? </h3>
<br />
<h2>
If you go to the drawing studio and want to create a cartoon, use sketch paper (newsprint) to make a quick little drawing of your idea. </h2>
<h2>
After you draw your sketch you can complete your cartoon on nice, card stock. </h2>
<h2>
You can choose a piece of colored construction paper to frame your cartoon. </h2>
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ub-rXQ8jC3Y/VxBiO2az0KI/AAAAAAAAFkY/JaDBz4FWEwwdrxDTV3K6EogTdMo0BoVeQCK4B/s1600/DSC02810.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ub-rXQ8jC3Y/VxBiO2az0KI/AAAAAAAAFkY/JaDBz4FWEwwdrxDTV3K6EogTdMo0BoVeQCK4B/s640/DSC02810.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<h2>
When you glue your cartoon down on the construction paper, put the glue on the perimeter so that it will lay nice and flat. </h2>
<h2>
Be sure to sign your name in the right hand corner! </h2>
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8p6eqyVFTIg/VxBi7toujLI/AAAAAAAAFkk/9Q_0FgWBs3wUDIJaRwfQHO3TWUqvkTEPwCK4B/s1600/DSC02812.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8p6eqyVFTIg/VxBi7toujLI/AAAAAAAAFkk/9Q_0FgWBs3wUDIJaRwfQHO3TWUqvkTEPwCK4B/s640/DSC02812.JPG" width="640" /> </a><br />
<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You could create an idea for a cartoon at home, sketch and draw it at school. </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You could paint your cartoon. </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You could use your sense of humor to create a funny sculpture or a funny fiber art work. </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
<br />It is fun to be funny, but remember a cartoon or joke should never be hurtful. </h3>
<h2>
<br />Here are some examples of cartoons...are they funny to you?</h2>

How can you use the idea of radial design in your art? Could you create a radial design collage, painting, building? What could you use to create a perfect circle to begin your art? </h4>

An Indian <i>Mandela</i> is an image of a circle which represents the universe. It comes from the ancient Indian language called <i>Sanskrit</i>. Sometimes a Mandela is used in meditation. </h3>

<h4>
Tara uses many of the same objects to make her installation. She take these objects to build, connect, and show them in a fun and interesting way. Sometimes you cannot tell what the actual object is until you look REALLY close.</h4>

</h4>
<h4>
In her art, Tara uses slinkys, straws and cups. Sometimes the objects by itself are geometric, but when Tara puts the objects together, they turn into a giant <u><i>organic s</i></u>hape. </h4>

<h4>
In this photograph, you can see Tara took simple, clear plastic cups and stacked them on each other over and over and over again. By making art out of an ordinary cup, Tara gave her art materials a new meaning. She <u><i>transformed </i></u>her material.</h4>

<h3>
Artists can make interesting "papers" to use for projects. Eric Carl makes papers using layers of paint. He puts a<u><i> texture </i></u>on them using brushes, fingers or tools. He keeps his papers in color coded drawers. When he needs a green he just goes to the green draw to see what <u><i>shade</i></u> of green is needed. </h3>

<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
One way that you can make an interesting paper is to make paste papers. </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Here is how you do it!</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
The set up is to have card stock papers, brushes, old combs or marking tools, paste/paste mixture and paper towels. </h3>
<h2>
<u><b><span style="font-weight: normal;">So</span></b></u><b><span style="font-weight: normal;"><b>...</b></span></b></h2>
<h3>
1. mark your name on the back of a piece of card stock</h3>
<h3>
2. lay out paper towels to place your paper on </h3>
<h3>
3. with a brush evenly spread some the paste across your paper </h3>
<h3>
4. take a comb or marking tool and twist or pull it to make marks</h3>
<h3>
5. after it dries, do another color and another design </h3>
<h3>
</h3>

I never got around to posting this last spring and I think it is a
worthwhile school-wide project to do. I chose to do it the last month of school but it might be a nice thing to do on these cold winter days. In TAB/CHOICE, students are
working independently most often. Every year I make sure that I do
something that we all work on together. This work was done by
kindergarten through fifth grade. I want students to know that with
everyone's effort, we can make a powerful piece of art for our school. maryellen </h3>

<br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">We have many hangers in the art studio. What in the world shall we do with them? Cutting them gets a little too sharp and pokey. So, we will wrap them in yarns and bend them into lovely abstract forms. We will keep working on them until we have enough for a wall! We will put them together with little pieces of pipe cleaners. We work together at Captain School to make really cool things!</span><br />

Captain Students<br />
<br />
*there is an art center outside of the art studio that has all of the supplies and directions needed to make a hanger sculpture.<br />
*you may take the hanger and yarn home to work on this project<br />
*bring it back to school and we will add it to the rest of them<br />
<br />
If you get home and forget how to do it, here are the directions:<br />
<br />
<br />
1. bend the top of the hanger so it is closed<br />
2. cut yarn six arms lengths long<br />
3. glue the end of the yarn to the hanger...hold on a minute for it to stick<br />
4. wrap, wrap, wrap, until you get to the end of the hanger.<br />
5. put glue on the end of the wrapping to hold yarn in place<br />
<br />
You may stop and change colors. Just glue again to stop and start.<br />
<br />
<br />

<h3>
Artists express their feelings by painting, sculpting, drawing, collage, photography and more!</h3>
<h3>
What feeling would <i>you </i>like to explore in art?</h3>
<h3>
What studio would help you to express those feelings? </h3>
<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
There have been famous artists in the world who have expressed strong feelings in their work:</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Joan Mitchel is an American artist who shows strong emotions in her work. </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
What can you say about how she uses lines? </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
</h3>

<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">

<h2>
The big idea is this...</h2>
<br />
<h3>
When you feel sad, frustrated, embarrassed, scared, worried, confused or sorry about something...</h3>
<h3>
draw a picture, do a painting, sing a song or do a dance....all the arts can make your day be better. <i>I believe it and I hope you do too!</i></h3>
<h3>

<h4>
Before you were born there was a man named Martin Luther King Jr. He believed that all people, no matter what color of their skin, should be able to eat together, travel together, work together, study together, and play together. When he was alive people were not allowed to do <i>any </i>of those things together. People <i>discriminated </i>against black people by not allowing them do do those things. Black people were forced to be separate and not at all equal.</h4>
<h4>
</h4>
<h4>
Martin Luther King Jr. stood up for what he believed he wanted a better life for his children.</h4>

<h3>
He protested peacefully in the streets with others to tell people what he believed. He supported "sit ins". He was killed because of what he believed.</h3>
<h3>
We remember him because he made people question what they believed to be true. Do you ever question if something is true?</h3>

<h3>
It is nice to feel peaceful at home and at school. When I think about creating peace I remember the wise words of a very old man that I met in Hiroshima, Japan, he said... </h3>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
<i> "peace begins with me and the person next to me"</i></h2>
<h3>
Think about what that means to you. I think it is about working hard at <i>relationships.</i> At school we learn strategies to help us like using "I" statements when we are upset. We try to make friends with everyone...we extend kindness. It is not always easy...but it is important to think about and to <i>act</i>. </h3>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
There are artists who think about peace and relationships. Cbabi Bayoc is a St. Louis artist who is a painter. He is painting pictures that depict (show) peaceful relationships. He is painting a picture for every day of the year showing fathers and their children. </h3>

In ART...</h2>
<br />
<h3>
In each studio, you can take a box (vessel) and create a design, print, painting, mosaic, collage or drawing. Inside your box (vessel) you can put in things that make you feel peaceful or help you to think about peace. Maybe it is a picture, words or an object.</h3>

<u>Key Stage Two</u></h2>
<br />
<h3>
I invite you to write about one of the questions listed below. You can put this writing inside your peace vessel or share with others. </h3>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<i>How do you extend peace to people who are different from you..who look different, dress different, think different or speak in a language different from yours? </i></h4>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<i>Why do we need peace in the world? </i></h4>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<i>What do you do to make peace a priority? </i></h4>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<i>Do peace and love go together? </i></h4>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<i>What is peaceful protest?</i></h4>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<i>(I hope that someday you will peacefully protest something that you believe in.) </i></h4>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<i>Why is it hard to make peace? </i></h4>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<i>How do you help make peace, what do you do or say? </i></h4>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
<i>Can you find a quote from Maya Angelo and write about it? </i></h4>

</h2>
<h2>
When I was a little girl I was always a little nervous about my report card. I thought a good report card meant that I had to have<i> great</i> marks in<i> all </i>of the subjects like writing, math, art, music, language, science <i>and </i>physical education. I tried very hard in school, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't throw a ball very far in p.e. and math was always hard for me. When I went to college I could finally study just the things that I really loved and were special to me. </h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sLCGVQr8JAQ/Vonyo2_JQ9I/AAAAAAAAFRk/AXkxOHha-xQ/s1600/The_REAL_Rainbow_Babies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sLCGVQr8JAQ/Vonyo2_JQ9I/AAAAAAAAFRk/AXkxOHha-xQ/s640/The_REAL_Rainbow_Babies.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<h2>
<br /></h2>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
<b><span style="font-weight: normal;">I hope that you are not nervous about your report card.</span></b></h2>
<h2>
Here is the truth as I see it...</h2>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
*there are things that we naturally do well (<i>everyone has a special gift</i>)</h3>
<h3>
*there are things that if we practice really hard we can do well</h3>
<h3>
*there are some things that may always be hard for us to do</h3>
<br />
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
It is time for me to give a <i>report </i>to your parents so that they know what you are thinking and doing in ART. </h2>
<br />
<br />
<h2>
<b>So...what is a report? </b></h2>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
A report is to tell or write about something that has been <i><b>observed</b>.</i> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Information and evidence (proof) are presented. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OjvOJI88jVE/Von1M34B2_I/AAAAAAAAFRw/wA4wbsthwHE/s1600/observations.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="395" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OjvOJI88jVE/Von1M34B2_I/AAAAAAAAFRw/wA4wbsthwHE/s400/observations.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
In the case of ART, <b><i>I want to know what you have observed about yourself</i></b>. I cannot watch every child every art time.You know yourself better than anyone. The proof is in your Artifact Books (<b>if </b>you have been writing in them...if you have not been writing in them, you need to think about doing that better or I will help you). <br />
<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
So, together we will report to your parents. They are interested in what you do because they care and love you. </h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yMsJ-gK1CfA/Von25iPrXyI/AAAAAAAAFSA/fzsB7jvqEzE/s1600/TIJ9pD0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="464" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yMsJ-gK1CfA/Von25iPrXyI/AAAAAAAAFSA/fzsB7jvqEzE/s640/TIJ9pD0.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OoJqEIodxQQ/Von25vHj3JI/AAAAAAAAFR8/g-R4KcQJIr8/s1600/u8pfhi1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OoJqEIodxQQ/Von25vHj3JI/AAAAAAAAFR8/g-R4KcQJIr8/s400/u8pfhi1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
I want them to know that you have the behaviors of an artist:</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You think about ideas</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You solve problems </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You experiment with materials </h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<h3>
You take the time to figure things out </h3>
</div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You learn from doing things wrong, ..the best creations come from doing things over and over again</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You help one another. </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You get ideas from each </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You are not afraid to go deep into your work</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You take care of materials and your art space</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
You make art that is important </h3>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yNe3lY33I9s/VonwTx46NFI/AAAAAAAAFRQ/oC9Q4NYB63A/s1600/applause-figures.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yNe3lY33I9s/VonwTx46NFI/AAAAAAAAFRQ/oC9Q4NYB63A/s640/applause-figures.gif" width="582" /></a></div>
Can you improve at being an artist? Sure, we all can and we will. This is the time of the year when we applaud the things that we have done and think about how we can improve. It is exciting to think about improving. It is like a New Year's Resolution!<br />
<br />

<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FaWhhkkvbKM/VmXbx_8PebI/AAAAAAAAFPw/du_zQ4NfRzo/s1600/DSC01940.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FaWhhkkvbKM/VmXbx_8PebI/AAAAAAAAFPw/du_zQ4NfRzo/s640/DSC01940.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
The first art media that anyone put in your hand was probably a crayon. You were little and your parents knew that you couldn't poke yourself with it and it showed color. That was perfect because you were just learning your colors.<br />
<br />
When I was young my grandmother would buy me new crayons. I would love the pointy-ness of them and the way they smelled. I would hate when the paper came off and the points dulled. It made me a little afraid to draw because I didn't want to break the points off of my new crayons.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Dt_O4xXwWHQ/VmXcDJhGZpI/AAAAAAAAFP8/kHFFVIsjxII/s1600/DSC01962.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Dt_O4xXwWHQ/VmXcDJhGZpI/AAAAAAAAFP8/kHFFVIsjxII/s640/DSC01962.JPG" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
But now, I want the paper off and I want them to be broken and dull so I can use them in in new ways. </h3>
<br />
<br />
I can lay them on the side to color in large areas.<br />
It is easier to mix colors. What kind of colors were used to mix in the background of this image? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XP7xs1Rw1NU/VmW9oWJv9hI/AAAAAAAAFM0/dC3FuYm9JWE/s1600/DSC01955.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XP7xs1Rw1NU/VmW9oWJv9hI/AAAAAAAAFM0/dC3FuYm9JWE/s400/DSC01955.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I can color really, really hard with them and not worry if they break! Or, I can color lightly, mixing colors...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fokq_xA9OiY/VmXS0CpdLrI/AAAAAAAAFN0/B8lGQ6K4TZY/s1600/DSC01963.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fokq_xA9OiY/VmXS0CpdLrI/AAAAAAAAFN0/B8lGQ6K4TZY/s400/DSC01963.JPG" width="300" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fx-4_SVH0l8/VmXS02faJtI/AAAAAAAAFOA/mNaP-9_KHTM/s1600/DSC01964.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="256" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Fx-4_SVH0l8/VmXS02faJtI/AAAAAAAAFOA/mNaP-9_KHTM/s320/DSC01964.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
We often think that crayons are common and simple to use. They are not always our first medium of choice. Painting, markers, metalic pencils and sparkle glue just seem so much more fun and exciting to work with. BUT...we need to revisit that simple little crayon and look at exciting possibilities!<br />
<br />
We can also do something fun called CRAYON RESIST...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KolW_gBLe8g/VmXT1QJ-k_I/AAAAAAAAFOM/6kGSIvz6xV0/s1600/DSC01945.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KolW_gBLe8g/VmXT1QJ-k_I/AAAAAAAAFOM/6kGSIvz6xV0/s320/DSC01945.JPG" width="320" /></a> <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FeD9RxJ5ges/VmXURAc3mqI/AAAAAAAAFOY/HcG1uLRN_2c/s1600/DSC01941.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FeD9RxJ5ges/VmXURAc3mqI/AAAAAAAAFOY/HcG1uLRN_2c/s320/DSC01941.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
This happens when you make heavy marks with the crayon and paint with a <i>water color wash </i>over it. The crayon resists the water color as you can see in the image above. It created a texture of paint and also covers any white areas.<br />
<br />
<br />
<h2>
Key Stage Two</h2>
<br />
Another medium that can look like crayon are oil pastels. They are wonderful to use because they are very oily and creamy. The colors can mix very well together. One color can lay on top of another and be seen.<br />

Andy Goldsworthy is an artist. He doesn't use paints or paper. He builds with nature. He would get up in the morning and have breakfast with his children. He would then kiss his wife goodbye and go off to work. He would go to the park, the forest or the ocean and look for<u><i> artistic possibilities</i></u>. He patiently waited for something to inspire him. Then he would begin to build. He would use his hands, teeth and found tools to prepare and arrange materials. </h2>
<h2>
Today, he lives in Scotland and continues to create art from nature. He photographs his work. </h2>
<h2>
</h2>
<h2>
</h2>
<h2>
Just look at his work! I am interested in what <u><i>you</i></u> think!</h2>

<h2>
</h2>
<h3>
What kind of objects from nature can you find on the playground or walking home from school? If you find some inspiring objects, you can bring them to school to be arranged and photographed. </h3>
<h3>
OR...</h3>
<h3>
Maybe something that you see would inspire a painting or a drawing. You might want to do a<i> little sketch</i> so that you can remember it. If you do not have a sketch book, you could make one in the collage studio. It is pretty handy to have a sketch book. You never know when you will see something that you would like to <i>document </i>so that you can go back later to look at it and think about it again.</h3>
<h3>
</h3>
<h2>
So...</h2>
<h2>
My big message to you is this...don't let a single day go by without using your art eyes outside. Notice something about nature... the shape of a leaf, the color of the sky, the texture of bark, the moving clouds or how the outside world smells. It is good for your brain, your soul and your body. You are part of nature. </h2>

</h2>
<h2>
Today we are talking about new ways to think and build in the architecture studio...</h2>
<h3>
When my daughter Brynne was a little girl she would draw plans for rooms. She would draw on scraps of paper and I would find these little plans all over the house.</h3>

<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>
She is a grown woman now and lives in New York City. She is doing the same thing that she did when she was a little girl...she is designing spaces. She practiced a lot when she was young. What do you like to practice? You just might use those skills when you grow up! </h3>

<h2>
<b>An idea...</b></h2>
<h2>
Maybe you can build something with a different concept/idea. Here are some questions: </h2>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
What kind of a building would a poet live in? </h3>

Today we will be learning a skill that you can use in the</h2>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
<u>Drawing Studio</u></h2>
<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
There is a French word <i>contour.</i>..it means outline. </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
A <i>contour drawing </i>will show an outline of an object, like this daisy flower.</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Do you see any <u><i>detail </i></u>in this contour drawing? </h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-naH87YSIpAo/VkALA8tr_3I/AAAAAAAAFA4/ynl5_PjqXm0/s1600/9008043.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-naH87YSIpAo/VkALA8tr_3I/AAAAAAAAFA4/ynl5_PjqXm0/s1600/9008043.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<h3>
A <i>continuous contour line drawing</i> is where the pencil stays on the paper until the object is completed. The artist never picks it up...it is a continuous line...keeps going. </h3>
<h3>
The famous Spanish painter, Pablo Picasso made continuous contour drawings. They were called one liners because the were created using just one line! </h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0OkUg46fv68/VkAMxsczg6I/AAAAAAAAFBE/NOF66BDkoXY/s1600/Pablo-Picasso-Drawing.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0OkUg46fv68/VkAMxsczg6I/AAAAAAAAFBE/NOF66BDkoXY/s400/Pablo-Picasso-Drawing.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lTMUyLo0KPk/VkANzgw1eDI/AAAAAAAAFBM/OPafiicRSSY/s1600/0784727653.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lTMUyLo0KPk/VkANzgw1eDI/AAAAAAAAFBM/OPafiicRSSY/s400/0784727653.jpg" width="377" /></a></div>
<h3>
Here are a few examples of his <u><i>one liners!</i></u><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VaiodzUKoHI/VkANzvY2C1I/AAAAAAAAFBQ/e4LEjYGdvPs/s1600/0_0_0_0_250_334_csupload_54317714.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VaiodzUKoHI/VkANzvY2C1I/AAAAAAAAFBQ/e4LEjYGdvPs/s400/0_0_0_0_250_334_csupload_54317714.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aeUROO7ffkg/VkANzozDnFI/AAAAAAAAFBU/gOXcThf1t5k/s1600/2e8e628fa9d1bd4991a503f5cf4fe91d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="627" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aeUROO7ffkg/VkANzozDnFI/AAAAAAAAFBU/gOXcThf1t5k/s640/2e8e628fa9d1bd4991a503f5cf4fe91d.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N6nzukkL8uw/VkAN0DJzFyI/AAAAAAAAFBY/-ke8h2lvJMo/s1600/a48c1b0d32bf06cff692d3ca31f43010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="333" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-N6nzukkL8uw/VkAN0DJzFyI/AAAAAAAAFBY/-ke8h2lvJMo/s400/a48c1b0d32bf06cff692d3ca31f43010.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
When you want to have fun at home, look up Pablo Picasso and see more of his one liners and then look at some of his other work too. Much of Picasso's work was very rich in line. Here is an example of one of his many paintings. </h3>
<h3>
</h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7HmUWzk82ig/VkAQ-Bq0C6I/AAAAAAAAFB4/u27LKF3DNpE/s1600/picasso-pablo-portrait-de-jacqueline-seidentuch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7HmUWzk82ig/VkAQ-Bq0C6I/AAAAAAAAFB4/u27LKF3DNpE/s640/picasso-pablo-portrait-de-jacqueline-seidentuch.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
You can practice using continuous line drawings in the drawing studio. You can do a painting and use line in your <i>composition.</i></h3>
<h3>
<i> </i></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lAHRtakOgJ0/VkoP2CNMUqI/AAAAAAAAFCk/wfh9UgKFLvU/s1600/one%2Bliner.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lAHRtakOgJ0/VkoP2CNMUqI/AAAAAAAAFCk/wfh9UgKFLvU/s640/one%2Bliner.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<h3>
<i> </i></h3>
<h2>
<i><span style="font-weight: normal;">Big Idea...an artist feels more confident about drawing when she practices. </span></i></h2>
<h2>
<i><span style="font-weight: normal;">Try drawing the same thing ten times...think about how you feel when you are finished. </span></i></h2>

<h2>
<i><span style="font-weight: normal;"> </span></i></h2>
<h3>
</h3>
<br />
<h2>
<span style="font-weight: normal;"> <b>Key Stage 2</b></span></h2>
<h3>
<u><i> Blind contour </i></u>is where the artist looks at an object and draws without looking at the paper. He might look down at the paper to add a small detail such as an eye. His eyes are only on the object that he is drawing...looking very closely.</h3>
<h3>
Watch me...I will show you. Who would like to be my model? </h3>

<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
This is something that is fun to practice in your Artifact Book. </h3>

<h2>
I have a challenge for you...</h2>
Go to a studio that is difficult for you. Now you might say, "Why would I want to do that"?<br />
<br />
<b><u>BECAUSE...</u></b>.<br />
<br />
Trying new things is scary, but it keeps us from being bored.<br />
You might find out that you like doing that "difficult" thing.<br />
We learn new things by challenging what we already think...(maybe you don't like green beans, but some day you might)! <br />
Trying new things makes us feel better about ourselves...more confident.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>
Trying something new requires courage and bravery because the thought of something new makes us feel unsafe. </h3>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
The most important thing is this...</h3>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
when you feel brave about one thing it makes you feel brave about other things. </h2>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
</h2>
<h3>
So, try a new studio...dip your toes into the water...just try it, you might like it!</h3>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3>

In Art we say, "You must be brave to be an Artist". </h2>
<h2 class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</h2>
<h3 class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is an image (poster) that gives the message to be brave.</h3>
<h3 class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A poster is a printed artwork that can be "posted" to a wall. When an artist designs a poster she may use <i><u>text</u></i> (letters/words) and an <u><i>image </i></u>(picture). </h3>

<br /></div>
<br />
<h3 class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Often, it is hard to write the text on a large art sheet...here is an idea to make good, readable text. </h3>
<h3>
</h3>
<h3>
Using a ruler, draw a line where you want the top of your letters to be and a line where you want the bottom of your letters to be. These lines are called <u><i>guide lines.</i></u> They guide us where we want our letters to be. </h3>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZkL2-jVOrhI/Vjlpgk54YDI/AAAAAAAAE_U/-RVwmMvDNY8/s1600/DSC01720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZkL2-jVOrhI/Vjlpgk54YDI/AAAAAAAAE_U/-RVwmMvDNY8/s640/DSC01720.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>
Draw your letters to fit the space...</h3>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iyFH1ZbplbA/VjlptpfRN7I/AAAAAAAAE_0/CoauuIZ4Ums/s1600/DSC01725.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iyFH1ZbplbA/VjlptpfRN7I/AAAAAAAAE_0/CoauuIZ4Ums/s640/DSC01725.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<h3>
There are many different kinds of letters that you can make. We call them <i><u>fonts</u></i>. My favorite is Helvetica. Often you see signs using this font because it is easily read.</h3>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AMOkl7Cn4WI/VjlpDHOHQCI/AAAAAAAAE-4/HnHkBuW5f7A/s1600/helvetica-1.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AMOkl7Cn4WI/VjlpDHOHQCI/AAAAAAAAE-4/HnHkBuW5f7A/s640/helvetica-1.gif" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<h3 class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some other fonts. A computer can show you different kinds of fonts. </h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DKJfpvBnsE4/Vjluz7GZKbI/AAAAAAAAFAQ/Vs0shgdLoLo/s1600/theands.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="596" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DKJfpvBnsE4/Vjluz7GZKbI/AAAAAAAAFAQ/Vs0shgdLoLo/s640/theands.gif" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3 class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Do you have an idea for a poster you would like to make? Is there something you would like to tell people? Think about what kind of font you might use. </h3>
<h3 class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You could start your ideas in the drawing studio and then take them to the collage or painting studio. If you think of ideas at home, write or draw them on a piece of paper and bring them to school. We can staple them into your Artifact Book. </h3>
<br />
<h3>
<u>Key Stage Two</u></h3>

<h3>
If you make upper and lower case letters you will draw a line in the middle to guide you...</h3>

Have you ever had a picture in your mind? Artists often do! Sometimes we imagine things in our mind that we have never seen or experienced. </h2>
<h2>
Sometimes we look at artwork and say that it has a lot of imagination...we are saying that the artwork is unusual or different.</h2>
<br />
<h3>
Artists find pictures in their minds and make many cool artworks.</h3>
<h3>
Would you say that this building (Dancing Woman) was created by an architect that had a great imagination?</h3>

In Choice Art we can take one big idea to different studios.</h2>
<br />
<h2>
A Big Idea might be to make a box in sculpture... </h2>
<br />
<br />
<br />
You can make a box using a <u>template</u>.<u><br /></u><br />
You can cut on the solid lines...some pieces will fall off. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WxOVrZPKrWU/ViASQ9tcZAI/AAAAAAAAE0k/kNCQy-Kt5WY/s1600/DSC01583.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WxOVrZPKrWU/ViASQ9tcZAI/AAAAAAAAE0k/kNCQy-Kt5WY/s640/DSC01583.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
You can fold on the dashed lines...<br />
Overlap the ends and glue....hold it for 15 seconds... <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zdu5MgJ5nIk/ViASQhYYBRI/AAAAAAAAE0U/1hRfF0gmA4g/s1600/DSC01584.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zdu5MgJ5nIk/ViASQhYYBRI/AAAAAAAAE0U/1hRfF0gmA4g/s640/DSC01584.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0DJ6CcD7YpM/ViASR5GZy0I/AAAAAAAAE0w/xwjaRafRwco/s1600/DSC01586.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0DJ6CcD7YpM/ViASR5GZy0I/AAAAAAAAE0w/xwjaRafRwco/s640/DSC01586.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When you are finished in the sculpture studio with your 3/D box, you can take it to...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hfGG8LfKO7k/ViAST6GO6yI/AAAAAAAAE1A/trRD6DbGKWs/s1600/DSC01590.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hfGG8LfKO7k/ViAST6GO6yI/AAAAAAAAE1A/trRD6DbGKWs/s640/DSC01590.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
the drawing studio...hummmm, maybe we should draw on it first???</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-95CeRjrsJGo/ViASVMHt8-I/AAAAAAAAE1M/uzTi86zl4VI/s1600/DSC01592.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-95CeRjrsJGo/ViASVMHt8-I/AAAAAAAAE1M/uzTi86zl4VI/s640/DSC01592.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
or...the collage studio</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-smN4XNlkwiQ/ViASViVeM_I/AAAAAAAAE1Q/I3hanOE_iR4/s1600/DSC01593.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-smN4XNlkwiQ/ViASViVeM_I/AAAAAAAAE1Q/I3hanOE_iR4/s640/DSC01593.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can make several boxes and glue them together...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yKN8a3ATmis/ViASot_BvRI/AAAAAAAAE1s/J8UyCaZWt-8/s1600/DSC01578.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="444" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yKN8a3ATmis/ViASot_BvRI/AAAAAAAAE1s/J8UyCaZWt-8/s640/DSC01578.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
You could make many boxes....hummmmmm what could you do with them???<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There is an American artist who created with many boxes all put together. Her name is Louise Nevelson. She would often use found objects in her art. Here is an example of her work: </div>

Collage is a fancy, French word that means "to glue".</h2>
<h2>
We say that a piece of artwork is a "collage" if it has materials glued to it. Many things can be used to create a collage. </h2>
<br />
Can you look at this artwork and find something that may have been glued? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DhNTTQ2J3c4/VfMbC6N2nrI/AAAAAAAAEbA/KJH_gcKvtfw/s1600/6093bfaf24c2adc482c28c1666546d22.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DhNTTQ2J3c4/VfMbC6N2nrI/AAAAAAAAEbA/KJH_gcKvtfw/s640/6093bfaf24c2adc482c28c1666546d22.jpg" width="488" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Do you see something that may have been torn or cut in this artwork? <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J6VDeY_9RCc/VfMbDETkLUI/AAAAAAAAEbE/mtucZZGFS58/s1600/Still%2BLife%2Bwith%2BPitchers%2Band%2BApples.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="508" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-J6VDeY_9RCc/VfMbDETkLUI/AAAAAAAAEbE/mtucZZGFS58/s640/Still%2BLife%2Bwith%2BPitchers%2Band%2BApples.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
How about this one?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dg2yXFs9__0/VfMYYkTDcmI/AAAAAAAAEas/pIni21jBPsg/s1600/Hanna-B-Good.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="296" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dg2yXFs9__0/VfMYYkTDcmI/AAAAAAAAEas/pIni21jBPsg/s640/Hanna-B-Good.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Yi8rfjCa-NM/VfMYePXejKI/AAAAAAAAEa0/nSmjXA-TuIs/s1600/3024729-poster-p-hannah-hoch-modenschau-014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Yi8rfjCa-NM/VfMYePXejKI/AAAAAAAAEa0/nSmjXA-TuIs/s640/3024729-poster-p-hannah-hoch-modenschau-014.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>In collage you can use many different materials to make something new!</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just to name a few: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
beautiful, interesting papers that are torn or cut</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
photographs</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
newspapers</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
strings/yarn</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
stickers/stamps</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
sheet music</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
text from any source</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
This week we will practice with some of these materials and learn how use the different types of glues and scissors, punches and texture tools.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VxTv6YVU4AU/VgRcNBT2zNI/AAAAAAAAEoc/Q0XBE4ONVXg/s1600/DSC01397.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VxTv6YVU4AU/VgRcNBT2zNI/AAAAAAAAEoc/Q0XBE4ONVXg/s640/DSC01397.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
We will explore the collage studio and "prove" our skills in our Artifact Books!<br />
<br />

When you visit the collage studio you will find many materials that you can use to make a collage on paper. You might also make something in the sculpture studio and then take it to the collage studio to "collage" it. You might make a painting or do a drawing and add some collage work to it. Think about it! <br />
<br />
* Did you know that there are soft and hard lead pencils?<br />
* Is it difficult to draw lightly? We can hold our pencils a new way to make it easier!<br />
*If you don't have a blending tool, what could you use?<br />
<br />
<b><u>Some</u> </b>of the things we are experimenting with are: <br />
<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Hatching</h3>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tNX3_XcrIWo/VdN0nQEHj8I/AAAAAAAAERs/IDc2TKBu06k/s1600/hatching-sphere-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tNX3_XcrIWo/VdN0nQEHj8I/AAAAAAAAERs/IDc2TKBu06k/s640/hatching-sphere-3.jpg" width="584" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Cross -Hatching</h3>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uLMXTyawW1Q/VdN048sM9cI/AAAAAAAAERw/jzPh2iB6WFg/s1600/apple-hatched.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="375" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uLMXTyawW1Q/VdN048sM9cI/AAAAAAAAERw/jzPh2iB6WFg/s400/apple-hatched.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Value</h3>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AKo6sBmQNBk/VdTCA5qLXyI/AAAAAAAAESY/vFviOQFwGX8/s1600/4558489.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AKo6sBmQNBk/VdTCA5qLXyI/AAAAAAAAESY/vFviOQFwGX8/s400/4558489.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h2>
Sometimes we use colored pencils for our drawings. </h2>
<h2>
You can create value with color too! </h2>
<h2>
</h2>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SctdAVQJq64/Vd3nIBYYr4I/AAAAAAAAEWY/7f-cnnld6BA/s1600/DSC01152.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SctdAVQJq64/Vd3nIBYYr4I/AAAAAAAAEWY/7f-cnnld6BA/s640/DSC01152.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<h3>
You can make new colors by blending different colored pencils. </h3>
Do you notice the blue, green and yellow pencils blending?<br />
<br />

I hope you notice the long wall by the cafeteria. It is our <b><i>ART WALL.</i></b> It will have student work exhibited throughout the year. If you look at it now you will see images of "master works". That means art that famous artists have created.<br />
